The patient was consulted urgently and synchronously implemented in-depth resuscitation measures including endotracheal intubation, invasive mechanical ventilation, vasopressor use to raise blood pressure, antibiotics according to clinical developments, and continuous blood filtration (CRRT).
In particular, the team performed plasma replacement, recording blood plasma as cloudy as milk, suitable for very severe triglyceride hypertrophy. This is a specialized resuscitation technique that helps quickly remove disease-causing factors in plasma, often indicated in acute pancreatitis due to very high triglyceride hypertrophy and some other severe diseases.
After 8 days of treatment, the patient was awake, quit the ventilator and had continuous blood filtration; signs of organ failure improved clearly, abdominal pressure decreased; triglyceride levels decreased to 5.6 mmol/L. This result reflects the close coordination, quick handling and continuous care of the medical staff.
Doctors recommend that triglyceride increase may progress silently, but when it breaks out, it can easily cause severe acute pancreatitis, multiple organ failure. People need to have regular health check-ups, blood fat checks; control diabetes, overweight - obesity; limit alcohol and high-fat foods.
When there are signs of severe epigastric abdominal pain, frequent vomiting, fatigue, lethargy or shortness of breath, it is necessary to go to a medical facility immediately, not self-treat at home.
